2. Fun to Teach:
As parents, we set the tone for Bible study. If we do not find the material interesting and engaging, our children won’t either. Choosing a Bible study that matches your teaching style will help you to be effective in teaching your children.
3. Age Appropriate:
Curriculum that is age-appropriate is key to being effective in discipling your children. The challenge can be choosing a curriculum when you have a wide variety of ages. If you do have a wide variety of ages, use your oldest students’ needs when choosing the curriculum. You will be amazed at how much your younger children learn while trying to keep up with their older siblings.
The topic you choose to study should be interesting and engaging for your family. The Bible is the one book we want them to be most interested in. Choose a curriculum that brings out the topics that point back to the Bible
5. Measurable Results
Does the curriculum you are evaluating have periodic reviews. Be sure to leave time within each lesson to do a lesson review. This allows you to ask questions about the lesson and answer any questions you students might still have about what they learned. If you have older students, have them write the reviews for the younger students.
Retention is key to teaching because without retention application will not happen. One way to tell if your children are retaining the information is to have them retell the story you have studied. The dinner time is a great time for children to recount what they studied during Bible class.
